Tuesday night, many Florida residents looked to the sky and were shocked to see a strange fireball streak through the sky before "exploding" behind the clouds.
NASA reportedly received more than 60 reports of the mysterious light in the sky and has confirmed that it is not an alien invasion. The streak was actually a fragment of an asteroid that broke up over the Gulf of Mexico.
NASA determined that the fireball made a water landing just off the coast of Naples and that it was approximately 10 inches wide.
The map above shows the locations in which the reports of the fireball came. Basically, it seems that the whole peninsula could have seen it if they were looking up at just the right time.
Thousands of meteors fall through the Earth's atmosphere on a daily basis, but it is rare to be this large and seen by so many.
